Figmas Can't Be Tamed - Stop Motion Animation - Update

My stop motion animation is finally finished after about three weeks of work and numerous  computer software problems, but it's done and I am rather happy with how it turned out.

Enjoy ^.^

Stop Motion Animation by Optimistic Penguin Productions

Opening Song: Jap by the Abingdon Boys School

Main Song: Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus

Ending Song: The Girl In Byakkoya by Hirasawa Susumu

I just want to say thank you to everyone for all the lovely comments!!!!! You guys are awesome, really made my day ^^

Now I will answer some of your questions collectively.

1) Hahahahaha... I am not a Miley Cyrus fan either, not by any stretch of the imagination, but hearing this song, which I have to admit is kind-of a cool song, the line "Don't Change Me" sparked the idea for the video, I thought 'wouldn't it be awesome if a figures body kept being changed during this line!' and thus I just had to make the video.

2) I use 15 photo's per second for the animation

3) The 'special effects' are no secret, I used a photo-editing program PhotoScape, downloadable free and legal here, with this I added the effects, and yes they were photo by photo, I don't have any software which can do fancy stuff over the top of film so all effects and edits were done photo by photo

4) I pieced the video together by creating a series of GIF files in the photo program then importing them into Sony Vegas Pro, which I downloaded a free 30 day trail from here

5) As to how long it took me, I do not know the precise hours as I didn't time them, but I worked on it in a period of three weeks, with the majority of the work done the first four days of the first week, then a little bit of editing in the second week, and finishing it off this week.

I hope that has answered all of your questions, and thanks again for all the comments ^^;

Haha, this was so awesome n_n Great job! I am wondering, how many photos per second do you use for the moving parts? I want to try to make a stopmotion myself, but I'm not sure how many would give a fluent animation as yours does :)

For film perfect you need 24 per second, but I used 15 per second, you can't really do more than that with articulated figures as they don't have very subtle movements :P

Well if you used 15fps I will as well XD It looks very good and fluent already, so 24fps is just overkill XD;

I can only say that that was a very impressive job well done

This is interesting! love how the face changes! But how come Byakkoya no Musume was only featured for a few secs at the end! I love that song! xD

Wow this is amazing! Adding those effects one by one with photoscape and then piece em up is really very tedious but the results are really good! I also use photoscape a lot too haha.

Maybe next time instead of changing the figma body can maybe change the head like michael jackson's black or white video haha ^^

OptimisticPenguin said...

Thanks B-Mecha,

about the site I used a template but I altered a lot of things myself to make it my own, like the banner and the buttons on the side bar XD

I should do something like that, featuring the SOS Brigade girls in their culture festival outfits! ^o^ (Not a perv)

Yeah, I didn't want you to think that I was calling you a pervert since you once owned them, so that's why I bailed from what I said ^>^;

Incredible, effort well spent.
I like how the song fits perfectly, even if I'm not a fan of the singer. that's some dedication! :D

Looks very good ^_^ This really encourages me to really get through the one I've been planning for a while, but I'm being lazy still XD Oh and the summer heat doesn't help either. I want to take those photos, but dammit it's freaking hot!

lol I know how you feel it does require a lot of effort, plus since I used photography lighting it was really hot XD and it's winter here!
